Aziz Ansari Confirmed as MTV Movie Awards Host

MTV has confirmed the rumors that Aziz Ansari will host the 19th MTV Movie Awards:

One of the fastest rising stars in comedy, Aziz Ansari is set to host the nineteenth annual MTV MOVIE AWARDS, premiering LIVE on MTV, Sunday June 6 from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. This is Ansari’s first time hosting the awards show. As previously announced, Emmy Award® winning producer Mark Burnett returns for the fourth year as executive producer.

“Our audience fell in love with Aziz on ‘Human Giant.’ They followed him to the movies, TV and stand-up, and connect with him daily online,” said Stephen Friedman, General Manager, MTV. “Aziz is the perfect host for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards as he will bring his innovative comedy and distinctive style to the movie industry's most rebellious night on television.”

“I’m so happy Ronnie from ‘Jersey Shore’ was unavailable and this exciting opportunity was able to come my way,” said Aziz Ansari.

Ansari joins the ranks of past hosts such as Andy Samberg, Ben Stiller, Jimmy Fallon, Mike Myers, Sarah Silverman and Justin Timberlake. The celeb-filled event is MTV’s bold nod to the typical awards shows celebrating the year’s best in movies.

Aziz Ansari is quickly becoming one of the biggest names in comedy. He currently co-stars opposite of Amy Poehler in the critically acclaimed NBC series, “Parks and Recreation,” which was recently renewed for a third season. Additionally, Ansari was just announced to star in Ruben Fleischer’s next feature film, “30 Minutes Or Less” and is currently developing three films for Judd Apatow and Universal with Director Jason Woliner. NO Auto-Tune for Jay-Z's BP3

Kanye talks to MTV News about Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 (BP3) and removng Auto-tune from the album.

“He’s just been working on it, and it’s gonna be amazing when he drops it. I think it’s good he’s taking his time to give people the best product possible and not being rushed by this fast-food, media-outlet, Internet, everything-is-getting-leaked, people-stealing your-songs-before-you-can-mix-them-and-put-them-online world we’re living in right now.”

Kanye revealed that he and Jay went back in and made some alterations to B3 since they first started.

“We actually removed all the songs with Auto-Tune off of his album,” West said, “to make the point that this is an anti-Auto-Tune album, even though I released an album that has all Auto-Tune!

“It doesn’t matter to me,” Kanye laughed about Jay not wanting to incorporate the sound that is featured so heavily on Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak. “It’s music; it’s just sonics. I like Auto-Tune so I do it, but you want the other thing — like you’ll wear a suit to a wedding and gym shoes to a basketball game. I think it’s a perfect moment for Jay to provide some gym shoes to a basketball game right now.”

Choose or Lose & Kanye West Present: Homecoming

Kanye West is hooking up with MTV for the new documentary Choose or Lose & Kanye West Present: Homecoming. In the hour-long doc, West and MTV VJ Sway Calloway will go to the homes of recently returned Iraq war veterans to hear their stories about their service and how they’re re-acclimating to civilian life. At each stop, West will present the soldiers with a gift, with the rapper paying their rent, taking care of their debt or funding their tuition. “There are hundreds of veterans out there who are falling through the cracks. They make the ultimate sacrifices for us by laying down their lives, but it seems like a lot of them just get forgotten about” said West. “I know my music inspires and helps a lot of people but you can always do more. I teamed up with MTV and took the opportunity to share the spotlight with these veterans and hear their stories.” The Choose or Lose special will air on MTV on Monday, July 28th, at 10PM EST.-Daniel Kreps
