Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils new Aston Martin watches

Renowned Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre has partnered with Aston Martin for the AMVOX2 DBS Transponder watch, which integrates the transponder circuit into its body, serving to lock and unlock the luxury sports car, while maintaining the functions of its famous vertical-trigger mechanism. The DBS car owner simply needs to press the Open and Close position on the watch glass to open or lock the vehicle. It features no push buttons. Instead, the vertical trigger system of mechanical levers patented by Jaeger-LeCoultre allows the chronograph to be started, stopped and reset by pressing the sapphire crystal.

Second in the line is the AMVOX2 Chronograph DBS, which combines state-of-the-art sports engineering with exceptional horology. The functions are activated simply by pressing the sapphire crystal watch glass, while a function-locking device avoids the risk of any unintended activation or deactivation. The AMVOX2 Chronograph DBS watch combines amazing mechanical innovation with the qualities of reliability, longevity and precision, which are the characteristic of all Jaeger-LeCoultre mechanisms. The AMVOX2 Chronograph DBS is available as a limited series of 200 in 950 platinum and limited series of 499 in stainless steel.

Finally, we have the AMVOX3 Tourbillon GMT, whose case is made from 950 platinum and high-tech black ceramics. The tourbillion features an automatic movement with a tourbillion regulator. With its design inspired by the exalted world of Aston Martin cars, the AMVOX3 has its patented oscillating weight made from a segment composed of platinum and iridium alloy, and the arms made from carbon fiber.

4 door Aston Martin?

New pictures of the brand's Rapide sports sedan have surfaced, and we have to say we're liking it more and more. (At least as much as Lambo's take on the same idea.) No word yet on availability or pricing, but it's rumored to boast a V-12 engine and achieve max speeds of around 180 mph. Via GQ Blog

ASTON MARTIN PRESENTS ONE-77

Aston Martin says this is no mere car, but ‘possibly the world’s most desirable automotive art form’:

Marek Reichmann and his design team have sculpted the One-77 so that it is still instantly recognisably an Aston Martin, but with hints of a new design language.

The significance of the One-77 name, which won’t be used for production cars, is that Aston intends to build no more than 77 cars. The exact number is believed to have been chosen because of CEO Ulrich Bez’s belief in ‘lucky 7’. Car assembly is likely to be at Gaydon, though the V12 engine will come from Aston’s dedicated engine facility in Cologne.

Aston wants to show the car to potential customers by the end of the year, with the potential for the first production cars to roll out of Gaydon by the end of 2009.
